A Place For Everything and ... Oh, Forget It
We feel more out of control than ever. Not enough time…or too much we think we need to do…
or just plain disorganized.
The house is usually not presentably clean and rarely white glove clean. By the way…where are my white gloves?? Things are piled everywhere (photo withheld).
We even had piles in the bathtub, until Andrew decided to turn on the water one day. What a dear. We were both standing there at the time, so no real damage.
On the plus side, we have greatly lowered our standards for clean, so it evens out a bit.
It’s tough when we know so much work needs to be done, but instead we are out at the park, recreational shopping or just playing with the kids.
Often just one of us hangs with the kids while the other does chores.
That’s more efficient and productive, but then that person loses out on the fun.
Did I say fun? Why don’t they just listen to us? It would make our lives so much easier.
Where was I? Oh yeah, “out of control”.
Lost the use of one of the garages when the holiday decorations came down from the attic and the garage became a dumping ground after that. Oh my, what a mess!
The van now stays in the driveway.
This weekend we will un-decorate and hope that the garage comes back.
Need more closet space to keep all the gifts that we are not ready to add to their “in use” collection, as well as for the older toys that we have taken away for lack of use, but not yet ready to donate.
Andrew’s birthday was celebrated with a fun gathering of family and friends at our house.
Bethany took over the unwrapping of the presents as usual. Her mind becomes tightly focused on the opening of the gifts and at times she appears overloaded and we try to quiet her down before continuing.
For Andrew’s party Gayle tried a Bob the Builder theme. They like him and Thomas & Friends too, also Sesame Street and The Wiggles. Favorites are new ones from PBS, Word World and Super Why. Both are fun and great for learn to read skills, so we’re happy about that.
In addition to Andrew’s birthday, they had three kid parties to attend in December.
Two were at kid gyms, one with guided activities another with free play in sponge-block pits, on zip lines, trampolines, etc. the third at a home with a bouncy and spin art machine.
We spent several evenings out looking at the holiday lighting displays.
Christmas wasn't a single day for the kids, but was was extended over several. We started with part of Gayle’s family on Saturday, a friend’s party the next day, then my cousins' families on Christmas Eve, then home on Christmas Day with Grandma, Aunt Laura and Uncle Stephen.
Parties are just everyday life for our kids. Gifts were opened at each event and throughout the day on Christmas. Lots of fun toys for us– I meant to say “the kids”–to play.
